I'm still searching for insight and understanding. To read Al's story is painful, sometimes heartbraking, and often frustrating. In a way Al was fortunate for so many "second chances". • 5.0 out of 5 stars from RAS -- Great book about a very talented driver that faces the demons most if not all people face in Life : Having Known Al's grandfather, uncles, dad and Al as he was growing up exposes all the grandeur and splendor of a Championship race car driver while sharing the struggles he faced and faces as a person like all of us. He has been to the highest of highs in his professional success, but, it didi to guarantee him the same in his person life. It is a great book for all to read to face your life long struggles and not falsely believe if I only had success, money, etc., everything in my life would be great. We all need to address each day with its challenges and successes to the best of our abilities and also realize many times we need others to give us their perspective on our own lives. Each of us have to make good and hard decisions day in and day out. Don't fool yourself that everybody has it better than you. But the real KEY in life is, are you doing th best possible things to assure you have a good life. Because all of us don't live forever and while you have time, seek and search for the meaning to your life today and for eternity. I appreciate what Al shared regarding Jesus Christ. You better know for your self where you will spend eternity, because as Al Jr pointed out he has lost loved ones unexpectedly and at the moment they died, they did have a One on One with God/Jesus. He knows you better than anyone and hopefully you know Him because that will determine your eternity, no matter all the successes and failures you experienced. Al Jr pointed out clearly, winning Indy not once but twice was a dream come true, but, it not not assure him personal and family happiness, only Indy Car driver happiness. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from JayJae -- Interesting insights for those who loved CART's heydays : If you are interested in the racing of Al's generation, you will find this book worthwhile with detailed stories of races, championships, behind-the-scenes contract negotiations and inter-team politics, motivations to change teams and the occasional betrayals and dis-loyalties. Certainly Rick Galles and Roger Penske standout as exemplary figures in Al's life and the sport in general. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2021 )
• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Sam Pick -- Highly recommend this as a book about racing and life 5 * : I was a massive Al Jr fan watching IndyCar during the 90's - always remember his run in with Nigel Mansell at Long Beach 1993. I love a racing books, but this book is so much more than just motor racing. Al writes really openly about his successes but also his struggles - which is rare in a sports biography. I learned so much about Al's racing (there are some awesome stories) but also about the man himself and his challenges - which are so useful and can be applied to my own live.
